Walk along a tributary of the Severn in the heart of Shrewsbury for an unforgettable dawn chorus. Please dress warmly, binoculars and a warm drink will be useful too if you have them. Join local Archaeologist Dr Nigel Baker on a journey of discovery around Shrewsbury’s river loop in Canoes and Bellboats. Looking at the town’s medieval defences and castle, lost streams, ancient fords, historic wharfs, Victorian health hazards and much more.
Participants should be aware that although we start at Frankwell the finish point is at Shrewsbury Weir. No previous paddling experience is required. Participants should be dressed in suitable outdoor clothing and soft soled shoes. River levels may lead to change of date. 7pm. £15

The Macmillan World Championship Coracle Relay Race attracts crowds of supporters who cheer on the 48 teams from the banks of the River Severn. Supporters can join in the fun and raise a few pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support by tucking into the hog roast, refreshing their palates at the Tanners Wines’ Pimms bar, sipping a hot cup of freshly ground coffee, buying T-shirts, foam hands or by simply making a donation.
