'Do the loop' present A Paddle into the Past
Join local Archaeologist Dr Nigel Baker on a journey of discovery around Shrewsbury’s river loop in Canoes and Bellboats. Looking at the town’s medieval defences and castle, lost streams, ancient fords, historic wharfs, Victorian health hazards and much more.
Participants should be aware that although we start at Frankwell the finish point is at Shrewsbury Weir. No previous paddling experience is required. Participants should be dressed in suitable outdoor clothing and soft soled shoes. River levels may lead to change of date. 7pm. £15

Over 600 years ago Harry Hotspur formed an army of men and went to battle against King Henry IV - Harry lost his battle and was killed on the battlefield. To find out more join local expert Dorothy Nicolle for a walk and talk around the site of the Battle of Shrewsbury. Flat easy access paths and wheelchair accessible. Adults £2.50 Children £1.50. Many of Shrewsbury’s ancient shuts have recently been recorded as footpaths on Shropshire Council’s definitive map of public rights of way. The church also features wonderful stained glass from the 14th to the 19th Centuries and many fine medieval features. Partially accessible for wheelchair users. Accessible toilet.
