| Walk starts at the Shropshire Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre. Get up really early (or don’t go to bed at all!) for this magical event. Walk along a tributary of the Severn in the heart of Shrewsbury for an unforgettable dawn chorus. Please dress warmly, binoculars and a warm drink will be useful too if you have them. This event is open to the public and carries a small charge to cover breakfast. £5.00 per person. 4.30am – 9.00am |

| Recitla by Peter Stephenson – Piano, Anthony Desbroulais – Cello, Anne Tupling – Violin playing Brahms Piano Trio in B major. Peter is a popular and experienced musician who has played frequently with London orchestras. He has also joined frequently as an ensemble member, with Anne Tupling and Counterpoint, as well as being involved in vocal work. For many years, Peter was the harpsichordist in the Ariosti Ensemble, a baroque group, playing concertos by CPE Bach, Haydn and Mozart. As well as playing a prominent part in the music of the town Anne also runs the music agency, Sounds Interesting. 1.00 pm £4.00 on the door. Only concession Friends of Gateway Arts £3.00. Hollie is the principal clarinet with the Eroica Camerata, conducted by Peter Marks, and also with the Shrewsbury Symphony Orchestra which John conducts. John Moore is Director of Music at Shrewsbury School, a post he combines with a busy round of conducting, performing and composing in many musical genres. | Charles Dickens’s notes from America. Dickens’s entertaining Notes on America is achingly funny in parts, deeply touching in others and] fearlessly outspoken. His trenchant criticism of slavery made him more enemies than friends but over 5,000 queued to buy tickets for his readings. Richard Field taught English at Shrewsbury School for over 30 years. He now lectures both in this country and abroad and is well know for his Great English Writers series at The Gateway. 12 noon. £6 Concessionary £5. | Piano recital by Lavinia O’meagher, who will play Haydn – Sonata in C minor HOB XIV/20. Mozart - K576 in D major. Beethoven - Op 110 in A flat. Lavinia O’Meagher has given many recitals in London, including the Wigmore Hall, and at music societies around the country. She was for many years a senior piano tutor at the City Lit, and now teaches privately in London. While living in Australia she studied with Schoenberger and also with Alexander Hmelnitsky, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatorium and a pupil of Rachmaninov. Later she studied in Paris with Marguerite Long, and at the Royal Academy of Music with Harold Craxton. 1.00 pm. £4.00 on the door. Only concession Friends of Gateway Arts £3.00.
